The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a system that was adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. This framework was constituted on 29 October, 2014 and has been approved by the MHRD and was launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on 29 September, 2015.
The first round of rankings was released by MHRD in 2017, in which about 3500 institutions participated.
NIRF Rankings are released for Ten categories such as Overall, University, Engineering, College, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture and Medical and Dental. There are separate rankings for different types of institutions depending on their areas of operation with varying weightage depending on the institution.

Founded in the year 1919 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, IIT(BHU), Varanasi was initially called Banaras Engineering College. Admission procedure begins with a candidate’s rank in JEE-Advanced and centralized counselling by the which Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).

IIT- BHU offers Merit-cum-Means scholarships to 25% undergraduate students.
Also, there are several endowment scholarships offered by the Institute. Some other facilities are also provided to the undergraduate students in the form of Institute free studentship, scholarship, re-imbursement of mess charges and pocket allowances to the students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

IIT Gandhinagar is among the eight new IITs established in 2008 announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD). The institute began operating in a temporary campus at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College. It was mentored by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay(IITB). The Institute IIT-GN was included in the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011. The first batch of students was admitted to three programmes: Mechanical Engineering,Chemical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.
The Institute is located approximately 26 km from Ahmedabad Airport and 28 km from Ahmedabad Railway Station at Palaj, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Ahmedabad is well connected via trains, air and Road from all the major cities of India.
The Institute IIT-GN is located on the banks of the river Sabarmati at just a 20 minute drive from Ahmedabad Airport and approximately 45 min-1 hr drive from Ahmedabad Railway Station.

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT-GN) climbed 16 positions to be ranked at number 35 in the overall category and retained its number 24 rank in the engineering category by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of Year -2020.

The admission to B. Tech is done through the Joint Entrance Examination JEE( Advanced) conducted by one of the IIT turn by turn and Allocation of seats is centrally done by JOSAA.

M Tech
For M. Tech, Minimum of 55% marks/ 5.5 (on a 10 point scale) in B.E. /B.Tech./M.Sc. or equivalent in appropriate branches is required (50% marks for SC /ST).
Also, candidates who have a valid GATE score (at the time of interview/written test) are eligible to apply for M.Tech.
GATE is not required for application to M.Tech. on a part-time basis or for the PGDIIT programme.
B.Tech. graduates from the IITs with CGPA/CPI of 8.0 or above (on scale of 10) would be eligible to admission without having to appear in GATE.
Candidates applying for the regular M.Tech. programme and who are sponsored by their employers do not require GATE score and can be considered as sponsored candidates provided:
(a) candidate must be in service for more than 2 years
(b) employer grants 2 years of study leave and,
(c) employer undertakes to financially support the candidate for the entire duration of 2 years course.
Note: The eligibility criteria mentioned above is minimum and the disciplines may use higher cut-off levels for shortlisting. Candidates belonging to EWS/SC/ST/PD.
M Sc
Admission to MSc in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics disciplines is through the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.
Admission to the Cognitive Science program is through the Institute’s own written test and interview process.
MA
Admission to MA Program is done on the basis of entrance test and interview ( to be held at Gandhinagar).
The Institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and interview based on the academic records and aptitude for graduate study in the humanities and social sciences.
The final selection will be based on all of above, viz., academic records, aptitude for graduate studies, written test and interview.
Notes: (a) The Institute may also exercise the option of offering admission to a few outstanding candidates based on academic records without calling them for written test and/or interview.
(b) Candidates appearing for the Test/Interview will be reimbursed any amount exceeding Rs. 750/- for to and fro single second-sleeper class railway fare by the shortest route from their place of residence to the Institute /venue of the Test / Interview.
PGDIIT
Application procedure for the PGDIIT programme is the same as for the MTech programme, however, the PGDIIT programme is only for one year and does not have any research credit requirements.
PhD
For PhD , at least 55% marks or 5.5 CPI marks is required in M.A./M.Sc./B.Tech./M.Tech. or equivalent degree in appropriate branches. This eligibility criteria is minimum at Institute level.

(ii) The students whose annual family income is less than Rs. 9,00,000/- shall have access to interest free loan under the Vidyalaxmi scheme for the total portion of the tuition fee payable.

4 Interest-free short-term and long-term loans:
IITGN also grants interest-free short-term and long-term loans based on students’ need to support their academic requirements, excellence activities, purchase of laptop/PC and in some cases even personal expenses. Students can also apply to pay tuition and other fees in instalments.
5 EWYL (Earn While You Learn) program:
It aims to help students to get a first-hand professional work experience while getting paid for it. The selected students’ under EWYL program can work for a maximum of 10 hours per week during the semester and 40 hours per week during vacations. The remuneration provided is tentatively in the range of Rs.150 – 200 per hour.
6 TML-FAP (Tata Motors Ltd. Financial Aid Program):
IIT Gn in association with Tata Motors Ltd. provides financial assistance to students from economically weaker backgrounds through the TML-FAP (Tata Motors Ltd. Financial Aid Program) which is open to all the undergraduate students of IIT Gandhinagar.

Spread over about 112.5 acres of land, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode(IIMK) , is situated on two hillocks in the Kunnamangalam Area of ancient city of Calicut in Kerala IIMK classrooms are designed in a way that they provide a conducive environment which is needed for adequate learning.

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kalyani (IIIT Kalyani), with the motto “Knowledge is Supreme of all Wealth”. is a public-private Indian Institute of Information Technology located at Kalyani in West Bengal. The institute was set up by the Government of India Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD) , Government of West Bengal and industry partners (Coal India and Rolta Foundation) using the Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership(N-PPP).
Kalyani is located in the Nadia district of West Bengal. The institute IIIT Kalyani is presently running from the temporary campus at Webel IT Park. This building is well connected by road (Kalyani-Barrackpore Expressway), rail (Kalyani Railway Station) which is at a distance of 5.1 KM distance, and flights. The nearest air port is the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata at a distance of 45Km. Also, it is located at a valid distance from the Cultural Capital of India i.e. Kolkata. There are about 80 trains that connect Kalyani and Kolkata.

Since, it is a new institute founded in 2014, it has not secured any rank as of now.
The Government of West Bengal has lent support to the IIIT Kalyani institute by granting 50 acres of land for setting up the Campus.
